David Hunter
BSc(Hons) MSc MIOA
Managing Director
Dave founded Hunter Acoustics in 1994 after working as a Senior Consultant at one of the UK’s largest independent acoustic consultancy practices in London. He is currently Chairman of the Welsh Branch of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA). With over 30 years experience, Dave has been involved in a wide range of projects from theatre design to large residential and industrial sites. Dave is a keen golfer and enjoys spending time with his family when not in work.
Meirion Townsend
BSc(Hons) MIOA
Since joining Hunter Acoustics in 2007, Meirion has worked on a wide range of projects from schools, residential developments, industrial sites and live music venues to police dog kennels and armoured vehicle testing tracks. Meirion plays a number of instruments and spends his spare time producing music in his home studio. His claim to fame - supporting the Stereophonics at Shepherds Bush Empire with his previous band!
Paul McGrath
BSc(Hons) MIOA
With almost 15 years’ experience in acoustics covering a wide range of projects, his expertise has predominantly been applied on numerous school developments, residential conversions and industrial projects. Paul enjoys music, playing cello with the City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra. He is also learning Greek.
Rhodri Owen
BSc(Hons) MIOA
Rhodri joined Hunter Acoustics in 2016 after graduating from the University of South Wales with an honours degree in Sound Technology. He has recently achieved a diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control from the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) via the distance learning course alongside his employment and has gained Corporate Membership status with the IOA. Outside of work Rhodri is a keen cricketer and enjoys playing the guitar. He has done voluntary work at the Glastonbury Festival every year since 2009!
Sam Shapley
BSc(Hons) MIOA
Sam joined Hunter Acoustics in October 2020 following 5 years’ experience as a consultant in the South-East of England. He is a corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) and completed the IOA’s Acoustics and Noise Control diploma back in 2017. In his spare time he enjoys playing football, watching his beloved Leeds United and plays tennis when the weather is nice.
Matthew Hunter
Matt joined Hunter Acoustics in 2017 upon completion of A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. He currently holds Technician membership status with the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) and is a registered tester with the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC). He has recently enrolled on the Acoustics and Noise Control diploma course with the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) via the distance learning route. Matt plays football for local team Cathays United in Cardiff and enjoys going to drum and bass events.      
Jayne Griffiths
Bookkeeper, Payroll
Jayne is highly experienced with Sage 50 accounts and works closely with the company directors and our accountants to keep the business running smoothly. Jayne enjoys spending weekends away and holidaying with her family.
