No 1 Llys Cadwyn is the architecturally stunning new Library/Fitness and Community Centre for Pontypridd. No’s 2 & 3 are offices with commercial outlets at ground floor. Hunter Acoustics were also appointed alongside the rest of the team on the fit-out of the new Transport for Wales offices in No 1.

A full acoustic scope of works included; environmental noise surveys, road traffic noise map modelling, external building fabric , internal building fabric/privacy and room acoustics assessments; as well as building services noise and vibration control roomside and atmospheric side.

One of the main challenges acoustically was controlling traffic noise through the main Library facade overlooking Bridge Street, in particular from busses accessing the main bus station opposite, as well as HGVs. Excellent co-operation between site and our office enabled all acoustic BREEAM points to be achieved at the commissioning stage, helping the project gain a BREEAM Excellent rating overall.
