Environmental Noise & Planning

Hunter Acoustics’ input into environmental impact assessments is a pre-requisite for many major developments with noise and vibration high on the list of issues to be considered.

Planning Policy Wales (PPW) and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) in England require Local Authorities to consider the impact of noise in the use and development of land.

A noise impact assessment is often required as part of the planning application where proposed development sites are located near to transport networks (road/rail/air) or industrial/commercial sources.

Noise related planning conditions are addressed and technical reports prepared for submission to the Local Planning Authority (LPA). We liaise with the LPA’s Environmental Health Officer (EHO), issuing detailed responses to comments where required.
